The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is situated off the spectacular Northumberland coast in North East England. Separated from the mainland by a tidal causeway, the island was an ideal location for a priory. Lindisfarne Priory was founded by Saint Aidan, who had been sent from Iona at the request of King Oswald.
